Yesterday, our Mission Director Polly Dunford joined the U.S. Embassy's Deputy Chief of Mission Michael Newbill on a visit to Eastex Garment Co. Ltd factory - one of garment factories that supplies Swedish company H&M. They saw firsthand how the products are made as well as the work conditions and safety measures for the factory workers. They also met with local trade union representatives and health trainers to discuss wages, working conditions and, workers' health.

This visit highlights the United States' commitment to the protection of labor rights, industrial relations, and workers' health. In Cambodia, USAID Cambodia works with the Cambodian government and partners such as the Arbitration Council Foundation, the Community Legal Education Center, the Solidarity Center, and the Population Council to strengthen labor rights as well as improve the dispute resolution process, working conditions, and health services for the workers.
